Madekwe was born South London, England into a mixed family. The father of her is Nigerian and Swiss as well as her mom is English. She was raised in the south of a London community estate, where she attended The Brit School at age fourteen. She received her Bachelor of Arts in acting from The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. She appeared on stage in numerous productions during her time at school including the role of King Henry V, as Princess Katherine and Wuthering Heights, as Catherine Earnshaw.
Madekwe's acting journey began with Storm Damage. Since then, she has made guest appearances for Teachers, Doctors, Casualty and Drop Dead Gorgeous. Her breakthrough role came in 2007's Woody Allen film Cassandra's Dream. It was co-starring Colin Farrell (who played the part of Cassandra) and Ewan McGrath. The following year she was cast as Elisha (a BBC Three drama-pilot) in West 10 LDN. Additionally, she starred in Trexx as Ollie and in six episodes of Flipside. In 2008, she was offered the Bambi role on ITV2 Drama Series Secret Diary of a Call Girl. Madekwe was in two series, 2 and 3. Madekwe was a part of the comedy How to Lose Friends and to annoy people (2008). Theatre credits for Madekwe include Little Sweet Thing and Flight Path.
Madekwe was cast as Ashley Davenport in the ABC Drama The Beautiful Life. The two-episode drama aired just two weeks on The CW and then it came to an end. Ashley Davenport was her role in ABC's drama Revenge. Madekwe appeared in all episodes in the series' initial two seasons as a regular. However, in May of 2013, word broke that the actress would quit the show due to her guest appearance on the opening episode for its third season. Madekwe starred as Tituba in the television series Salem from 2014 to 2016. Madekwe wed her actor boyfriend Iddo goldberg on June 2012. Ashley Leggat is a Gemini-nominated actress, who was born into the large family. She was born to Patty and Roy Leggat. Ashley Leggat was a part of Roy and Patty and her other siblings - Brett, Todd and Bram as well as Rob. Ashley's brothers, who were each of them extremely physically active, were all playing hockey in the winters and baseball in the summer months, which means that she grew up playing in arenas and baseball parks. Ashley could never walk, but she danced. At the age of two, she began Baby Ballet and fell in the love. It was then that she discovered Ashley's interest in dance.
